Sun Tracking (+Shadows) App

Plan & Track Sun Path & Shadows.

Track the sun over my house, over solar panels or over your head: this sunny app fascinates not only agents and house owners in the real estate and solar sector. It allows gaining a first impression of the sun's course, sunlight & shadows over the year, making it also ideal for photovoltaic, house and garden planning. Photographers and outdoor enthusiasts also benefit.

Sunlight and shadow play a major role in a wide variety of areas. Thomas Moder has developed his app SunOnTrack for this purpose. It offers great benefits, taking into account the course and position of the sun and shadows. The app, which was previously only available for Android and already reached almost 50,000 downloads, immediately entered the App Store Top Charts with its release for iOS.

With SunOnTrack, sun position, sun path and shadows can be forecast in a map view for any location worldwide, at any time and for any day. Especially between the seasons there are huge differences in the sun's path on the sky over the day. This can also be visualized on-site, directly in the camera image, using augmented reality. Popular use case are during the search for real estate, solar (PV) planning and the construction of a house: With one click, the app shows how the sun moves over the course of a day, exact and live at the property. The app shows where it rises, where it sets, where it is obscured by the shadows cast by other objects, and how much light a property thus offers. "A real estate agent reported to me that she simply shows her clients the course of the sun at the property live on her smartphone. She also already uses SunOnTrack photos in the exposé," says Moder. But the app is also becoming increasingly popular in the field of photovoltaics, in the garden and for outdoor lovers, as it offers professional and highly accurate support in planning.

Immediately with its release for iOS, i.e. iPhone and iPad, the app was incredibly successful: SunOnTrack immediately placed itself in the top charts in the App Store in the German region, at number 1 in its Tools category, and in the top rankings across all purchased apps, where it currently keeps climbing the first place.“ says its developer. Thomas Moder, is a computer science master's student and entrepreneur in Graz (Austria) and developed the app he has maintained alone since the start of its development. He has put an enormous amount of heart and soul into it. Already after the release of the Android version a few years ago, the Android version was very successful. People wanted to have the app for tracking the sun on iOS as well, which is now a reality.
